What
to expect
In a rural setting in the historic canal-side village of Shardlow lies our Leisure Marina, Touring Caravan & Holiday Static Caravan site. Right upon the river Trent and within a stones throw of both the river Derwent and Trent & Mersey Canal. It was an important location in days gone by and the heydays of the canal. But even today there is a lot to see and do around this historic village. A visit to the village Heritage Centre is always worthwhile and you will find historical information boards around the village too. There are walks galore for the active, both around the village and across the surrounding countryside. And with 8 pubs in the one village, you will never go thirsty!

Local
area
Shardlow Village has a unique place in the history of the country. The 18th century canal port, with its associated wharves and warehouses is clearly to be seen. Originally a river port, Shardlow developed greatly with the opening of the Trent & Mersey Canal in 1770. The decline of the business brought different uses for the warehouses but the area remains remarkably unchanged. With canal-side pubs, restaurants and waterside walks, there is plenty to see and do. We are easy to find and convenient for the Derbyshire Dales and the National Forest. East Midlands Airport is close-by and both Derby and Nottingham with its Robin Hood Country are all within easy reach. A 24 hour bus service travels between Derby and Leicester calling in at EMA, the market town of Loughborough and numerous villages along the way.
